Important Notes

This Privacy Policy is written for the current Translate AI: AI Translator app experience, including text translation, voice translation, camera/photo translation, object recognition, translation history, and subscription features.

Key transparency points: image translation performs OCR on-device before translation; object recognition uploads a compressed image to our backend for recognition; online translation and AI-enhanced features send the required text to our backend; voice recognition uses Apple speech technologies and may be processed by Apple according to Apple’s terms.

We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission and we do not track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising.

1. App Scope

Translate AI: AI Translator is a multi-modal translation app designed to help users translate typed text, spoken conversations, text captured from camera/photos, and vocabulary or object names recognized from images. The app may also provide AI-enhanced explanations, examples, synonyms, and pronunciation support for certain results.

3. Information We Process

3.1 Text You Enter or Generate

Typed source text and translated text.
Selected source and target languages.
AI summary inputs such as original text, translated text, and translation direction.
Optional translation result metadata such as meaning, pronunciation, examples, variants, favorite status, and feedback status.

3.2 Voice Input

Microphone audio when you press and hold to speak.
Speech transcripts generated by Apple speech recognition services.
Spoken playback content generated on-device through Apple text-to-speech APIs.

3.3 Camera and Photos for Image Translation

Camera frames or imported photos that you explicitly choose to translate.
OCR text observations, text boxes, layout information, and extracted strings produced on-device.
For image translation, the app translates the extracted text rather than uploading the original image for translation.

3.4 Images for Objects Recognition

When you use the Objects feature, the app prepares a compressed JPEG upload derived from the selected or captured image.
The upload is size-limited by the app and is compressed before transmission.
The service may return recognized object names, request identifiers, provider labels, and model labels.

3.5 Purchase, Settings, and Device-Related Data

Subscription and purchase status handled through Apple in-app purchase systems and our subscription SDK provider.
Selected translation expert, language preferences, theme/settings, and cached paywall/subscription snapshots.
Basic app and request diagnostics needed to keep the service working, such as locale, request identifiers, provider labels, and model labels returned by service responses.

4. How We Use Information

To provide translation, speech, OCR, pronunciation, summary, examples, and object recognition features.
To cache and display your translation history, favorites, and related result details on your device.
To enable subscriptions, restore purchases, and display current offers.
To diagnose failures, improve reliability, and prevent misuse of the service.
To respond when you contact us for support.

5. On-Device Storage and Retention

5.1 Translation History

The app stores translation history locally in an on-device SQLite database. Stored fields may include source text, translated text, languages, translation mode, timestamps, favorites, feedback state, and optional learning fields such as meaning, pronunciation, examples, synonyms, antonyms, or variants.

Retention: translation history remains on the device until you delete the history item in the app or remove the app. The app may reuse recent cached translations for up to 7 days for performance reasons.

5.2 Objects History

The Objects feature stores local history in the app’s Application Support directory. This may include the original image, extracted subject image, compressed upload image, recognized names, pronunciation/example snapshots, request ID, provider, and model metadata.

Retention: these files remain locally on the device until app data is removed or the app is deleted.

5.3 Settings and Cached Metadata

The app stores limited preferences locally, such as selected expert ID, language-related cached data, appearance settings, and cached subscription/paywall snapshots.

5.4 Photos Library

If you choose to save translated images or generated visual results back to Photos, the save occurs only after your explicit action and uses iOS photo library permissions.

6. Sharing and Third Parties

Apple: used for speech recognition, speech synthesis, translation framework features, and in-app purchases.
Subscription provider: the app uses Adapty to load paywalls and manage subscription-related state.
Our backend services: used for online translation, AI translation, summaries, examples, and object recognition. Where those services depend on supporting AI or translation providers, the required input may be processed through those providers on our behalf.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use this app for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking.

7. Permissions and User Controls

Microphone: required only for voice translation and speech input.
Speech Recognition: required to convert speech into text.
Camera: required for camera translation and object recognition capture.
Photo Library: required only when you import an image or save a generated image back to Photos.
You can change permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
You can choose offline translation when supported language packs are available.
You can delete translation history items inside the app; removing the app also removes its local data.

8. Children’s Privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the app.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
